Poison Control

So I made my first and I hope last call to Poison Control on Sunday. Madelynn was taking a nap in our bed and I had a bottle of ibuprofen on the nightstand (I know-it shouldn't have been there!!). Anyway, Justin went in to check on her and calls me in. She had gotten the bottle open and had sucked and chewed on about 10 tablets! She said she didn't swallow any. So I called the Poison Hot line and told them my situation and the woman assured me the amount she may have swallowed was safe and Madelynn should just eat and drink something to avoid an upset tummy. The woman said for MJ's age/weight 12 pills was the number to take her to the hospital. Madelynn may have ingested probably only about 2 pills. So thank the Lord, Madelynn was fine and I think we both learned a lesson about meds!! :) And just so you know the hotline woman was extremely nice, helpful, and understanding. She said on average they probably recieve about 3-4 calls each about ibuprofen-making me feel a little better that I'm not the only one that this has happend too!

Virginia City

Finley not happpy about being strapped in!

We took a short day trip to Virginia City on Saturday. It was fun walking around the historic town and also fun to stop at the candy store and get some treats! Madelynn especially had fun there!

The Kids

Finley took his first big boy bath this past week and actually enjoyed it. I think the splashing part was fun for him. Madelynn loved having him in there too!
Finley is also getting his top two teeth right now-he has been pretty grouchy with these two. But he has started crawling!- it isn't very fast yet or coordinated but he is moving. Hopefully, that will make him a little happier baby.
While I helped at the VBS nursery this week, Madelynn went to the toddler class. She had a great time-there were 10 other children and they did a lot of crafts and learned about creation. She really enjoyed it.

Justin

Hmm....what can I say about Justin. I remember he was so nervous about being a Daddy. About a week before we had Madelynn, I had one fake contraction and I remember him just getting this worried face because the reality hit him- I am going to be a father!! :O) But once he held Madelynn in his arms, he fell in love. And when we found out about our 2nd pregnancy I was the one freaking out but he was just excited. Since then, he has embraced his role as father and done a wonderful job. He is just great at loving our children, playing with them, and showing them the way to the Lord. I am thankful for him and the strengths the Lord has given him to raise our children. I could say so much more but I don't want him to get too big of a head!

Just a note: The kids also have great uncles-Jonathan, Brady, and Addison. We are thankful for these positive role models in our children's lives too!
One more note: I didn't do a big thing about our mothers on mother's day b/c I didn't think to do it- but they are just as loved and cherished!! Their bday's are coming up so we will see....

Few More of the Granddads

I just wanted to say a little something about the fathers God has blessed us with.

My Dad of course is the greatest dad ever! :) He has always been there for us girls and was incredibly patient with the task of enduring 4x the amount of hormones and teenage angst we put him through-poor guy. He is a hard worker and so talented in the shop-he can build and fix anything and it is amazing what he can do with metal. It has been fun to see him with his grandchildren. I am glad they get to know their PoPo. I could say so much more about him but I just want to let him know I love him and so glad God gave him to me as my Dad.
John is a great father, father-in-law and Papa. John has been such a blessing to me as a father-in-law. I have always appreciated his wisdom, prayers, and support. I know Justin's love and respect for him runs deep by how he talks of him and how he interacts with him. John is also a wonderful Papa-showering MJ with lots of love, prayers, and M&M's!! I am looking forward to when Finley can start to interact with him more. I am sure Justin could add a lot more to this.
Grandpa Al is a wonderful, witty and caring man. I have only known him for about 9 years but have grown to love this man so much. He always has a funny joke or story to share and he is so talented with a fiddle. I wish I could have seen him in his heyday. Justin has so many special memories with him and I am glad I have a few of my own now.

Justin never knew his Grandpa Skillman because he passed away when John was young.

Grandpa Wall-Grandpa passed away when I was 19 and he had Alzheimer's the last few years of his life. I do have many memories of him on the farm though. I always thought it was funny that he just drank plain hot water in the mornings and he was the only "old" guy that slurped up our spills on the kitchen table! He was a hardworker and I know he loved the Lord.

Grandpa Lund- Grandpa passed away just a couple years ago. He was a very caring, honest man. When he prayed he had such reverence for the Lord. He worked as a car sales man most his life and had many repeat customers b/c he was honest and trustworthy. I loved to see him with my Grandma -he treated her so lovingly. I do miss him.

I am so thankful for these men God has placed in our lives as Dads and Grandpas. Most of all, I am thankful for our Heavenly Father whose love I know I will never fully comprehend or know in this life. I am just glad He loves me.

Billings

I was able to go to Billings this past week for a few days. Mom and Jacki were here to watch the kids while I filled in at for someone (they also painted the kids' room-Thanks!!) They took Madelynn back with them on Friday and I came over on Saturday. It was pretty different to only have one child again for awhile! Anyway, had a great time there but I never seem to do all I want or see everyone I want. I am sure we will be back soon though!!Fin and Braylee playing together. Braylee is our good friends' Eric and Tiffany's little 10 month old.

Sharing a toy
The neighbor's dog was over so we were playing fetch with it-really nice dog.

At the Beach

I took the kids to the River Rock Pond a week ago to get out of the house for awhile. But by the time we got there it got cloudy and cool. Madelynn still threw some rocks in (she loves to do this) and then we walked around the pond and saw some turtles. It was fun. The last pic is just cute of MJ.

Father's Day

So the picture on the top is my Dad with MJ and Fin. I have been at my parents' house these past days so I don't have any pics of Justin or his Dad here. I will put more pictures of the fathers in our lives up when I get home. Both our Dads are very important and special to us and we both love(d) our grandpas too. I will try to write a little snippet of all them leading up to D-day. And of course Justin is a wonderful Dad to our kids but more on that later! :)

Books

So I love to read but since I have had children, I obviously don't do as much as I like. I also have a problem of just reading and not accomplishing much else. But all that aside I thought I would challenge myself to read 30 books by next year (I won't include all the children books I read). I don't know if that is too big of a goal but it sounded like a good number. Anyway, so after I read each book I will post it on the sidebar of the blog and maybe say whether I would recommend it or not. If anyone has any books that they would recommend to me, I would greatly appreciate it since sometimes I have a hard time finding good ones these days.

Bib Pictures

I put bibs on Finley this morning and so then Madelynn wanted to put her's on. We might have to have a hoe down tonight!

Random Shots

Madelynn's first attempt at photography-not too bad except the thumb. Maybe it will be her trademark. :)

Cute Little Bear

Justin is wonderful to me every morning because he takes Fin while I sleep an extra 20 minutes before he has to leave. Well, Fin has been wetting his pj's pretty much every morning and I just take them off and let him sleep with only his diaper on. But this morning was cold so Justin found this cozy warm bear suit for him to wear. So I had to take lots of pics and here they are. He was just so cute. :)
